As you all may know, the Mitumba Slums area was demolished by the government in November 2011 (For this news article, click here) and this has brought great sadness to us as KBYN because of the close ties that we have developed with the community since 2009. Please remember them in your prayers during this tough transition time.
However, I thank God for the opportunity that He gave us to partner with Mitumba Community Primary School for the past two years (2010 and 2011). We have really seen the hand of God come through for the children in that school, the teachers and even the community as well. Some of the things that God allowed us to do include:
I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have played an instrumental role in the community during the past two years, either physically, financially, spiritually, or all the above. May God richly bless you, and bring Psalms 40:1-3 into reality in your lives.
Stay blessed,
ALEX KANDIE
However, I thank God for the opportunity that He gave us to partner with Mitumba Community Primary School for the past two years (2010 and 2011). We have really seen the hand of God come through for the children in that school, the teachers and even the community as well. Some of the things that God allowed us to do include:
- Set up and stock a school library
- Hook up the school with Feed The Children, an organization that has been giving them food every term consistently, hence bringing an end to their food inconsistency
- Financial giving towards the school, with the support of Kingdom Business Network and other KBYN members who have been giving generously
- Setting up and facilitating games day every Tuesday of the term. Donations of some games equipment was also made to the school.
- Setting up and facilitating clubs every Wednesday - Art Club, Music Club, Drama Club, Dance Club, Debate Club and most recently Maths Club.
- Organizing an educational tour of the class 4 to 8 students to the National Museum of Kenya.
I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have played an instrumental role in the community during the past two years, either physically, financially, spiritually, or all the above. May God richly bless you, and bring Psalms 40:1-3 into reality in your lives.
Stay blessed,
